Matthew Maynard’s visit to the Cheltenham Cricket Society marked his first return since 2002. Warmly welcomed by an enthusiastic audience who had braved a cold winter’s evening to hear Matthew speak and share his experience with openness, humility, and a deep love for the game. A class act both as a player and coach, Matthew treated members to a journey through his cricketing career and charitable work, blending insight, humor, and fond memories.
Cheltenham Cricket Society was privileged to host Matthew and his words will undoubtedly resonate with members for years to come. Hopefully he won’t leave it for another 20+ years before his next appearance.

Cheltenham Cricket Society 2025 Calendar
Welcome
Cheltenham Cricket Society (CCS) was founded in 1983 to promote meetings with guest speakers and other activities of interest for like minded cricket lovers in the Cheltenham and surrounding areas.
About Us
Cheltenham Cricket Society is one of around 30 cricket societies affiliated to the Cricket Societies’ Association.
6 or 7 Guest speaker meetings are arranged for each season running from October through to April for the benefit of members. The meetings are held on the evening of the first Wednesday of the month starting at 7:30pm with doors opening at 7:00pm. The Victory Club in Cheltenham has been the host venue since 2001.
A “Summer Special” is often arranged. The most recent one was an evening with David Gower in August 2023.
